Red Green by Eric Freeman

Choose one and it will set you back around $5000; choose the other and be ready to cough up ten times that much.

Eric Freeman’s paintings take a wide brush and go side to side without a break.  Sohan Qadri at 78 is almost twice as old as Freeman and instead of applying paint to the surface, he swells his paper with dye so the thing is infused throughout with color.  ”Relying on a language of orifices and elongated paths or lines, he abandons representation in search of transcendence.”

Marina Abramovic at Moma

Oops, no photographs allowed.  Also no walking through the performance allowed.  But you can line up and stare into the artist’s face if you like.  And if you go upstairs you can walk through the narrow space between two naked men or two naked women, depending on who’s holding the lab coats at that time.  Nice handoff between naked and clothed when the space minders swap over.  Power in the white coat, vulnerability in the body…
